Registration Information:

  • Please sign up at the UC Main office or call 319-338-5439
  • Pre-payment is required. Your account will be billed. Full refund on cancellations more than 24 hours prior to start of session. 50% refund less than 24 hours.
  • Please be sure to include your e-mail at registration.
  • Registration deadline is 5 pm on the Friday before the session begins.
  • Class size is limited.

Rain Days & Inclement Weather:

  • Please contact the pool line at 354-9926 in inquire about pool closures and possible swim or tennis class cancellations. Tennis does not always follow swimming in regards to cancellations. Fridays will be used as a make-up day for both swimming and tennis lessons.

Form Your Own Group:

  • If you are not able to make the listed times for tennis or swim lessons, please contact Michele or Jessica about forming your own groups with your friends.

Most kids take multiple sessions throughout the summer. We will provide new offerings each week to keep the atmosphere fresh and exciting. Sessions are Monday through Thursday, unless otherwise designated.

A $13 daily rate may be utilized if you cannot attend an entire sessions ($10 for 5-6 year olds). All students will receive a t-shirt for their first session. Extra tennis shirts may be purchased for $10.

Private Lessons

Tennis:

All of the UI Recreational Services staff will be available to help you improve your game. You may schedule a series of lessons or just one... whichever fits your needs. to get set up with a private lesson, you may contact any of the UI Tennis Staff directly. The contact information and rates are listed on the UC website and on the bulletin board at the courts. Rates range from $30 to $48 per hour.

Swimming

Swim instructors will be available to teach and improve stroke technique and endurance for all levels. Please call the pool line at 319-354-9926 to set up lessons at a time that is convenient for you. Half hour lessons are $15.

Cardio Tennis

The ultimate high energy workout... a program for players with no experience, existing players, and former players. We will run drills to keep you on the move! This is a fun fitness program... the emphasis is not on perfect tennis. Heart pumping fitness on the court! This is a drop in class.  No registration is required.

Stroke and Strategy Lessons

This class is designed for adults wanting to start tennis or sharpen their skills. We will provide both stroke and strategy tips for singles and doubles play with drills and match play.

University Club

Swimming Lessons

Water Aerobics:

This class will coincide with the children’s swimming and tennis lessons so that while the children are active, the parent can be, too! This class will be a fun and energizing way to exercize utilizing the buoyancy and resistance of the water to strengthen your cardio and muscular endurance in a low-impact setting.

Parent & Child:

This program is designed for younger infants and children to get acquainted with the water, increasing their confidence through instructor-taught and parent-lead fun activities.

Swim Team:

July 19th - August 13th The swim team will consist of two practice groups based on age and ability. All UC children, who can swim at least 25 yards with minimal assistance are welcome. The older practice group will practice from 4:00 - 4:45 pm and the younger group will practice from 5:00 - 5:30 pm. The older group will work on different competitive strokes each week and the younger group will learn backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. At the end of the summer, the two groups will have an intersquad meet where each team member will swim in two events of their choice.
